Taryn Uyematsu – Girls’ Basketball

The January female Athlete of the Month is Taryn Uyematsu. She proves to be a continual threat in the game during her fourth, and final, year on Canyon’s varsity basketball team. Taryn averages 18 points a game and was also the the MVP at the Savannah Basketball Tournament where she averaged 20 points a game. She also continues to show her dedication and toughness, pushing through the season while playing on 2 sprained ankles, leading her team to a current 12-6 record. Taryn Uyematsu is an outstanding player on the court and we are proud to call her a Comanche!

AJ Perry- Boys’ Basketball 

Senior Point Guard AJ Perry is January’s Male Athlete of the Month. AJ has averaged 20 points a game with an average of 3 rebounds and assists. He also has averaged 2 steals a game in the 20 games he’s played this season. AJ is also ranked in California at 69th overall point guard according to max preps.
