Congratulations to Sara Leonard and Josh Tarango for earning the October Comanche Athlete of the Month! These two athletes have performed above and beyond expectations, and we would like to recognize their tremendous accomplishments. Here is a rundown of what these two athletes have achieved in October.
Sara Leonard is a junior at Canyon and has been running cross country since her freshman year. She ran a 17:18 to place third at the Orange County Championships on October 15th. Her biggest accomplishment in October was getting first place in the Mt. Sac Invitational with a time of 17:25. Sara says her favorite thing about running is being able to challenge herself and see what she is capable of. She is thankful for her great coach, Coach Wylie, and her teammates, who contribute to a positive and supportive team environment. Running has become an important part of Sara’s life, and we are lucky to have such a dedicated and humble athlete here at Canyon.
Josh Tarango is a junior at Canyon and has been a vital part of the Canyon football team. Josh competes as a defensive tackle as well as a tight end for the Comanches. In the month of October, Josh accumulated a total of 19 tackles in a span of 4 games. He also averages 5 tackles per game which has only helped fuel Canyon’s success on the field. Josh leads the team in tackles for both loss and sacks. As well as his success athletically, Josh has also achieved academic success in the classroom. Josh has been a core part of the football team, and we are honored to have such a tremendous athlete at Canyon.
Congratulations to the tremendous athletes!
